Marchandises has been awarded the RES Award 2025 in the category \u2018Best Residential Development\u2019. The project redefines how large-scale transformation can create not just housing, but an entire ecosystem.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Developed on a former freight site in Anderlecht, Marchandises is part of the CityGate I masterplan. The project blends housing, workspaces, and public amenities into one coherent whole. Three architecture firms, each responsible for a distinct section, worked within a shared concrete brick framework while expressing their own architectural language through wood, plaster, or corrugated metal fa\u00e7ades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At its core, Marchandises promotes flexibility and community. It offers modular spaces for workshops, commerce, and services, alongside housing units, green courtyards, and collective gardens. A new inner street reconnects the site with its surroundings and transforms a once-isolated enclave into an active urban connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marchandises doesn\u2019t settle for less impact. It aims for more value: social, spatial, and ecological.
